Drupal Commerce: How to collect additional information during the checkout process?

Commerce Fieldgroup Panes allows you to expose fields into the checkout process so you can collect information from your customers. This module creates for each field group of the order entity a new checkout pane. These panes can be activated or deactivated as usual. This enables an easy way to collect information in the checkout process. For example customer comments, feedback about where the customer founds the shop or any other fieldable information. The collected information is auto added to the order. You could use Views to present the information or to aggregate information.

For the configuration of Commerce Fieldgroup Panes you can proceed as follows:

1. Download, install and eneable the module
2. Go to Store > Configuration > Order Settings > Manage Fields i.e. /admin/commerce/config/checkout
3. Create a Fieldset and add the fields you want to use to collect the additional data from your customers
4. Once you created the fieldset with the extra fields, the fieldset will appear in the checkout settings, where the checkout process with its different elements is displayed (Store > Configuration > Checkout Settings i.e. /admin/commerce/config/checkout). Move the fieldset to the appropriate position in the process.
